Daphne, Platana

One of the first places you see when arriving from the house. They grill everything themselves and make very good gyros and salads.
Ask for πακέτο — paketo if you want takeaway.
Fish restaurants in Platana
There are two good family-run fish restaurants. One is slightly more refined and more expensive, with better or more special fish. The other is a relaxed family place with fish and good grilled or baked steak.
Fish tip: smaller local fried or grilled fish can usually be kept for only one day, making them a good bet for freshness.
Mams Club, Kymi
Our favourite gyros in the area, on the central square beside the church.
Χοιρινό γύρο is pork gyros. Κοτόπουλο γύρο is chicken gyros. With chicken, ask for real tzatziki instead of mustard sauce: Με τζατζίκι, παρακαλώ.
Figouli — Φυγούλι

Very close to the house and connected to the butcher in Kymi, so the meat quality is excellent. Outside peak season it may not open every night.
Drive carefully because stray dogs often gather for leftovers later in the evening.
Other favourites
Restaurant in Enoria: within walking distance, with uncertain seasonal opening hours. Worth the walk for the church, plateia and view anyway.
Capizanos, Kymi: a local legend, central with parking, excellent and different food, but opens whenever he feels like it.
Kalliarymanos: excellent food, a beautiful view and only about five minutes from the house. A reliable choice for almost any evening.
Eleni’s at Kalamos: look for the pink house with green doors. Fresh fish, grilled meat, salads and homemade spice mixes. Eleni may seem reserved at first but is truly lovely.
Avoid: Piliakos is the only restaurant in the area we personally do not recommend.
Platanenhof
About ten minutes away by the back road towards Kymi. It is more a place for drinks, music, meeting people and relaxing than a formal restaurant.
It is run by Lottie, Maya, Johan and Miriam, a genuinely lovely family. Lottie moved from Germany decades ago, her children grew up in Kymi, and Miriam comes from the Philippines.
During your stay, there should be a lovely music festival there. Add the current dates before sharing this guide.
